My cousin's ex-girlfriend's Dad was diagnosed with cancer on Friday and although they thought he had six weeks, he didn't make it that long and passed away this evening. I'm pretty sure he has been dead for a few hours, but I found it extremely tacky that when I logged on to facebook that a bunch of statuses had "RIP John lastname". It was pretty hard to tell my parents "I think John died" and told them I found out from facebook...just before they went to bed.
Now is it just me or is this completely tacky and uncalled for? The man hasn't been dead for a day and already it is all over the internet!
Somethings are best left handled in person or via a phone call.. this is one of them.. some people just have a need to feel important and this is a chance for them to do so. Sorry for your loss hun I hope you get by alright
I'm fine, I don't even know the guy...my cousin dated his daughter! But my parents knew of him, so it was hard to say "hey according to facebok john died"
yah it is not a good way at all to do that. After you are sure all his loved ones know or after the service if you want to put a status on a social site fine, but people shouldnt find out like that.
Well my dad passed away unexpectedly last week, and I wouldn't post a notice of facebook. But if some people found out indirectly via facebook, I wouldn't have a problem with it. Because I was in no condition to notify every single one of my friends via phone/in person.
